Founding Guild Members Crystal Bourret - President and Founder ( I have been an avid writer since the tender age of twelve; born December 23rd, 1976; I currently reside in my place of birth, Thunder Bay Ontario, Canada. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to help others, to be the arm that reaches those in need. If I can touch just one life before my time ends here on this planet then I know I have made a difference. Through my written word I have met so many wonderful people; friendships that will forever be held close to my heart. There are so many who have influenced me along the way, my constant supporters; my husband, children, mother and all my friends, the list is endless. With these projects I have come to find my soul sister, Sharon Weimer. Without her heart and help with all of this, I would be lost. A special thank you goes out to her husband David, who designed this site and the book cover; your time and talents are a great gift to this project. I thank everyone who has and will continue to be Voices of Hope for all who need us... Sharon Weimer ( I was born and reside in central New Jersey. I am married for many happy years to a computer wiz, musician, artist, and the designer of this website and our first book's cover. I have two incredibly talented and brilliant children who are the light of my life. Through poetry, I have become close friends with the most beautiful and interesting people, one of whom is the founder of the Global Poets Guild, and the main reason this book exists, Crystal Bourret. Crystal has brought us here together in a most unique and wonderful way. Now, not only do we write poetry for our own personal reasons, but also for the benefit and support of those whose have suffered, who may still be in poor health or crisis, and who need our help desperately. I am so proud and honored to be in such great company and to be a member of this Guild and what it stands for. Ricardo del Fierro, Jr. (Jay) ( I was born in Ketchikan, Alaska on September 11,1956. I was only two when our family moved backed to Seattle, have had on occasion returned to the place of my birth, it is such beautiful country. I am a Filipino-American, with strong Mediterranean roots of Spanish and Italian. Grew up in the south valley of Seattle, where there is a rich multi-cultural ethnicity, and for that I am grateful being able to understand people and our noticeable differences, yet our obvious similarities. The human condition and why we tend to separate ourselves, has always been a question to me, so my early studies of political science and creative writing has led me here, since most of what I write reflects that. Pursued my education further on a baseball scholarship at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania where I probably spent too much time in the batting cage and not class, learned more about life at such a young age, being so far from home....experience, invaluable experience....so in my quest, my search of self and trying to understand the inner world and the outer world of us all....this, I use as an opportunity to share my thoughts, which in turn may encourage others, to possibly view the world with a different light and perspective......PEACE... Wilfredo Derequito ( The writer earned a degree in Marine Biology at Xavier University, a Catholic school in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. Though his training pointed him towards a career by the sea, he somehow ended up working for the airline industry and now for an oil company. He likes to dabble with words and when the mood strikes him turns them into songs (hey, I'm still looking for a publisher!). Nothing makes him happier than working in his backyard garden and likes to call himself a pomologist when he is out in the farm. He adores his pets and he loves to travel and see places. He presently works as Staff Analyst at Saudi Arabian Oil Company in Saudi Arabia. Karen O'Leary Born in Sauk Centre, MN, I am the eldest child of Elmer and Delores Orth. In 1983, I married my life partner, Gayle O'Leary and have resided in West Fargo, ND since. God has blessed us with two daughters, Shannon and Megan. I am a nurse and freelance writer. My poetry, short stories, and articles have appeared in various venues including SP Quill, Storyteller, Purpose, Smile, Lucidity, The Journal of Christian Nursing, and The Write Club. It is an honor to be a part of Global Poets Guild--a talented group writers willing to share their work for the good of others. David Weimer - Honorary Member, Graphics/Technical Support ( I was born in Indianapolis and reside in New Jersey. My three greatest accomplishments in life were: marrying my lovely wife, helping to raise two wonderful children, and being lucky enough to have worked along side many giving and talented people, many of whom I count as good friends. I studied Art at Syracuse University and after starting work at Bell Laboratories earned my Masters in Computer Science at Rutgers University. I am passionate about art and hope one day to spend all my working hours in a studio.
